Corey Orava, DVM
In his personal life Dr. Orava is a “serious amateur” athlete. He was a member of his university’s golf team and has been a competitive hockey player most of his life. In addition, he trains regularly in Koroken karate and Aiki-jutsu under the guidance of Grandmaster Sensei Rick Marallo. He has also had the pleasure of training with UFC Hall of Famer, Royce Gracie.
Dr. Orava believes in this technology so strongly, that he flew his wife from Vermont to Kansas for treatment. She had a nerve injury that caused her chronic pain for the past 5 years. Since being treated last year, she is off of pain meds (tramadol and gabapentin) for the first time in years AND is able to run and downhill ski again. In her words, “I have my life back.”
Dr. Orava received his veterinary degree, with Honors, from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1999. He completed an intensive internship at the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island. He practiced exclusively with horses for 7 years – with an emphasis on sports medicine. In the summer of 2006, Dr. Orava left practice to work in the world of Regenerative Medicine (stem cells and platelet rich plasma). He has been involved, full-time, in the world of stem cells for the past 9+years. It may come as a surprise to most, but the veterinary field has led the human field in the clincal application of these regenerative technologies. As such, Dr. Orava has experience and knowledge that is extensive and unique in the world of regenerative medicine.
